OUR TECHNOLOGY

Biojoule’s lead technology is a containerised/automated pelleting facility, covering all operations from drying to pellet making and storage.

The plant is small scale, fully automated and uses advanced drying technology to produce 8 - 10,000 tonnes of pellets per year, or multiples of this quantity;
  • It is modular and built in standard ISO containers, so it needs no permanent buildings or expensive foundations to house it;
  • It is portable, requiring less than a week to break out, move and reassemble on a new site; and
  • It can utilize small point sources like smaller sawmills, forestry operations or chip from energy crop growers.

The plant typically comprises 6 production modules, based in up to nine full or half size standard ISO shipping containers which include.  It requires no utilities and can be set up on any paved level site, and moved relatively quickly (within less than a week) if necessary.

  • A SELF CONTAINED CHP POWER STATION/AIR HEATING unit (when mains electricity or low grade waste heat is unavailable), comprising:
    • a diesel fired generator, which provides electrical power and some of the heat for drying; and
    • a biomass burner/air heater which, coupled with recovered engine heat provides the energy to dry the biomass feedstock; or
  • HEAT RECOVERY FACILITIES to collect and utilize low grade waste heat from CHP plants, AD plants, or landfilll gas engines;
  • A DRIER – comprising two or more simple but innovative containerized convection driers with integral screen and out-feeder, capable of holding and out-feeding a full day’s raw material input to a tightly controlled moisture standard;
  • A PELLET PRODUCTION UNIT – containing a hammer mill, pellet presses, a cooler and a de-duster, designed to produce 1.5 – 2.0 tonnes of pellets/hour; and
  • A PELLET SILO – holding 100 or 150 tonnes (three or four days production) of finished product, complete with load cell weighing facility and rapid lorry loader;
